Meet Kris - Builder of the Month Father's Day Edition

1188 Views

It all started when Kris bought his son Michael a nitro basher when he was ten. From night crawling to exploring big rock cliffs, there's no shortage of R/C memories between this father and son duo. Despite Kris' neck condition, he would still be there helping Michael with his BRX builds. Michael is proud of his dad's accomplishments and has always looked up to him. We are glad to feature Kris on Day 6 of Builder of the Month Father's Day Edition. Enjoy!

Boom:
Can you tell us about yourself and how you got into the hobby?

Kris:
Hello, my name is Kris and I am a married father of 2. Now the proud new grandfather of my first grandchild. Growing up I was always into the R/C hobby. Once I became a father, I couldn’t help but buy my son Michael his first R/C truck when he was just 10 years old; the rest is history. We have both been hooked since. I have always loved working on anything I can get my hands on and when I found the hobby of R/C the passion became an addiction.

Boom:
What was the hardest thing about being a dad and what surprised you?

Kris:
Being a father was the best thing to ever happen to me, but if I had to think of the hardest part it would be always worrying so much about both of my kids. Being a parent you can’t help but worry about your kids no matter how much you tell them to be careful. The most surprising thing about watching my kids grow up is how fast it all just flies by in a blink of an eye. They truly do grow up way too fast.

Boom:
What Boom Racing products do you have experience with? Share some insights about what you like about them.

Kris:
My son Michael has been building crawlers and scale trucks for a few years now and once he bought his first Boom Racing truck the BRX01, we both built it together and the quality and the ease of assembling truly is unmatched by any other kit. I currently do not own my Boom truck (yet) but I do own a few sets of Probuilds and I love the design and ease of putting them together. Since the BRX01 my son and I have built the BRX02 Leaf and now we are assembling the BRX02 109 and I am blown away by how precise everything just goes together.

Boom:
What are your favorite R/C moments with your dad/children?

Kris:
Since my son and I got into crawling we got out crawling every Saturday for a few hours in the morning and it has become somewhat of a weekly tradition that we both look forward to all week. Some of the best moments of us crawling is the feeling when we are both trying to do a line that we try over and over and we finally both nail it. The quality time I get to spend with my son doing something we both love and wrenching for hours on end has made some of the best moments that will always be amazing memories for both of us.

Boom:
Who or what inspires you in the hobby?

Kris:
Seeing how much everyone in this hobby is always there for you when you need a hand or even a friend is truly the most inspiring thing about this hobby. Seeing how passionate my son is about this hobby inspires me and makes me happy to see him love something so much.

Boom:
Do you have any tips or advice for others in the hobby?

Kris:
Some advice I have for my fellow R/C enthusiasts is don’t be afraid to make your build YOU. The best part of this hobby is that each person's truck resembles that person's personality. And something I have learned myself is to take your time with your builds. The more time you take to build your truck the greater the reward once that truck finally hits the dirt.
