1701 Views

Meet Syarif Amir, selected by Khai Azmi as our February Builder of the Month! Syarif is a Malaysian military scale model enthusiast and diecast customizer. He discovered Boom Racing through a fellow Malaysian RC enthusiast's YouTube videos and currently owns two Boom Racing vehicles. Keep reading to learn more about our featured builder of the month.

Boom:

Welcome to the Builder of the Month! Can you tell us about yourself and how you got into the hobby?

Syarif Amir:

First of all, thank you for the opportunity. My name is Syarif Amir. I'm from Melaka, Malaysia. For the past 4 years, I have been doing military scale modeling and customizing diecasts specifically on Land Rover. I do a lot of custom models for police and military vehicles for exclusive gifts, souvenirs, and local collectors.

Boom:

How did you discover Boom Racing?

Syarif Amir:

My journey started when I went to an RC shop and chose a Land Rover toys grade RC scale of 1/18. After quite some time, I started considering an RC with more detailed features. So I searched and luckily found Mr. Amir Rofie's YouTube channel. I watched his videos, which use Boomracing products. I contacted Mr. Amir Rofie, and he recommends using Boomracing products. He also helped me assemble the chassis.

Boom:

Can you tell us about your Boom Racing vehicles?

Syarif Amir:

I converted my first BRX02 to a command Rover used by the Malaysian army. This gorgeous vehicle was used to transmit signals and information to other units during warfare. It is also responsible for establishing and maintaining secure military channels for the command and tactical element unit. My 2nd Boom Racing product is BRX02 109, which I purchased 3 weeks after the first one, and I really enjoyed the assembly process.

Boom:

Are there any future Boom Racing builds you are planning?

Syarif Amir:

My latest plan is to add the BRX 88 to my collection.

Boom:

Where do you draw your inspiration from when you are building?

Syarif Amir:

My inspiration comes from my late father. He was a police officer, and we often went to police and military parades where they showcased their assets. Doing through it brings back all the memories.

Boom:

What is the RC community like in the area you live?

Syarif Amir:

The community here is smaller than others, but they're really supportive.

Boom:

What cars or upgrades do you hope to see Boom Racing make next?

Syarif Amir:

I hope Boom Racing will come out with Defender 110 single-cab cargo and more accessories upgrades.

Boom:

Do you have any tips or advice for others in the hobby?

Syarif Amir:

Feel free to share your ideas with others and always try to be supportive.
